The methodology for the calculation of the volume of meat production

1. General Provisions

1. The system of indicators of livestock statistics includes two main groups of indicators: livestock – the number of livestock and poultry at the balance sheet date, their sex and age composition, the movement of livestock and livestock production performance and productivity of farm animals. These indices are generated separately for each category of agricultural producers and to provide general indicators of the industry the figures are aggregated by category. 2. In the current statistics measure the number of livestock cattle and poultry is formed on the 1st day of each month. Forming is carried out separately for each of the main types of farm animals (cattle, including cows, sheep and goats, pigs, horses, camels, poultry). In the formation of the annual data of January 1, except for the main types of farm animals is also considered population of other species – rabbits, deer, poultry, by species (ducks, geese, turkeys and others), as well as other birds of farmed (ostriches, pheasants and other ), and the number of bee colonies. Detail of livestock and poultry by age and gender is provided only with the formation of the annual data and does not apply to the current statistics of livestock. 3. In the agricultural enterprises and peasant farms, or relating to the medium and of large-scale livestock production as a basis for the formation of the current and annual data on the presence of cattle and poultry and livestock production is a continuous monthly statistical observation of national in form 24-cx “Report the state of livestock “(hereinafter – 24 cl). To generate annual data on livestock and poultry in small peasant farms and households, and used the data of administrative sources – households recording and record keeping, or peasant farmers. In the formation of the annual data on the production of animal products in these categories of households using data sampling statistical survey on Form A-008 “Livestock production in the small peasant or farm and households’ quarterly periodicity. Current data on the number of livestock and poultry and livestock production in these types of farms formed settlement. The calculation is made by territorial bodies of statistics at the district level, and then the data is aggregated to regions and republics.

4.1. The calculation of the volume of meat production

  13. Meat production in statistics of animal husbandry is characterized by weight of livestock and poultry slaughtered immediately on farms or sold for slaughter, and formed in a live and carcass weight. In the current statistics measure formed the main types of livestock and poultry: Cattle, sheep and goats, horses, pigs, camels and poultry. 14. Current account of small peasant farms and households, and starts at the beginning of the year with the formation of forward-looking data on the production of certain types of meat in live weight in the first quarter of this year. Expected volume is calculated by multiplying the number of head of farm animals, which will be implemented for slaughter in the first quarter, at an average live weight per head. Number of goals that will be implemented for slaughter in the first quarter of this year, is determined by multiplying the livestock of this type of livestock as of 1 January this year, the share of the livestock, sold for slaughter in the first quarter of last year, in the general population at 1 January of the previous year according to sample survey in the specified categories of farms. The average live weight per head of cattle and poultry killed or sold for slaughter shall be determined on the basis of the sample survey of small peasant farms and households, and for the first quarter of the previous year. V founded alive = K K * M goal, (4) where V founded alive  – forecast the total live weight of the individual species of livestock and poultry sold for slaughter in the quarter of the reporting year; For K      – the number of goals a separate species of livestock and poultry, which will be implemented for slaughter in the quarter of the reporting year; M goal   – average live weight per head a separate species of livestock and poultry sold for slaughter, in the corresponding quarter of the previous year. The resulting forecast amount distributed by month of the reporting quarter, in accordance with a specific weight of each month in the quarterly volume last year. In March, after receiving new data sample survey for the first quarter of the current year, calculated adjusted volume of production of meat in live weight in the first quarter of this year, with updated data on the average live weight and percentage of livestock, sold for slaughter. The difference between the forecasts and clarify the scope of adjusted March. Similarly, the calculation is made on the remaining quarters of the year. The difference between the forecast and the actual volume of the second quarter, adjusted June, the third – September, the fourth – December. Example of a calculation of the monthly volume of production of cattle meat in households is given in Appendix 1.
