statistics on livestock

The methodology for the calculation of the volume of milk production

1. General Provisions

1. The system of indicators of livestock statistics includes two main groups of indicators: livestock – the number of livestock and poultry at the balance sheet date, their sex and age composition, the movement of livestock and livestock production performance and productivity of farm animals.

These indices are generated separately for each category of agricultural producers and to provide general indicators of the industry the figures are aggregated by category.

2. In the current statistics measure the number of livestock cattle and poultry is formed on the 1st day of each month. Forming is carried out separately for each of the main types of farm animals (cattle, including cows, sheep and goats, pigs, horses, camels, poultry). In the formation of the annual data of January 1, except for the main types of farm animals is also considered population of other species – rabbits, deer, poultry, by species (ducks, geese, turkeys and others), as well as other birds of farmed (ostriches, pheasants and other ), and the number of bee colonies.  

Detail of livestock and poultry by age and gender is provided only with the formation of the annual data and does not apply to the current statistics of livestock.

3. In the agricultural enterprises and peasant farms, or relating to the medium and of large-scale livestock production as a basis for the formation of the current and annual data on the presence of cattle and poultry and livestock production is a continuous monthly statistical observation of national in form 24-cx “Report the state of livestock “(hereinafter – 24 cl).

To generate annual data on livestock and poultry in small peasant farms and households, and used the data of administrative sources – households recording and record keeping, or peasant farmers. In the formation of the annual data on the production of animal products in these categories of households using data sampling statistical survey on Form A-008 “Livestock production in the small peasant or farm and households’ quarterly periodicity. Current data on the number of livestock and poultry and livestock production in these types of farms formed settlement. The calculation is made by territorial bodies of statistics at the district level, and then the data is aggregated to regions and republics.

 

 

4.2. Calculation of gross milk yield and

commercial production of raw cow’s milk

 

18. The gross milk yield is formed in accordance with international requirements and actually includes all milk produced, including milk, consumed for feeding young cattle. This definition corresponds to the accounting methodology milk production Statistical Committee of the Commonwealth of Independent States(http://cisstat.com – Methodology / CIS Questionnaire on Agricultural Statistics) and the Statistical Division of the UN FAO (http://faostat.fao.org/site/375/default.aspx – Glossary). 

Annual milk production is characterized by the fact nadoennym cow, goat, sheep, camel and mare’s milk, and is calculated as the sum of the volumes of milk produced in each category of agricultural producers. In the current statistics of livestock is monitored on a monthly basis only to the production of cow’s milk.

19. Current account in peasant farms and households, and starts at the beginning of the year with the formation of forward-looking data on gross nadoe cow’s milk in the first quarter of this year. The calculation is performed separately for cattle for dairy and beef herds. Expected volume is calculated by multiplying the projected average herd of dairy cows dairy / beef herds in the first quarter on a quarterly average milk yield of dairy cows corresponding to a productive direction.

The forecasted average herd of dairy cows dairy / beef herds is determined by their relative weight in the total number of cows corresponding direction of productivity at the beginning of the year according to the sample survey in the small peasant or farms and households in the first quarter of last year. The resulting share of the total population covered by separate cows for meat and dairy productivity on January 1 this year, separately in each of the categories of farms.

Average milk yield per cow dairy / beef herds is accepted according to a sample survey or a small peasant farms and farms in the corresponding quarter last year.

Where

mole   – forecast total gross milk yield of cow’s milk in the quarter 
                               of the reporting year;

By Doi Kor    – predicted an average herd of dairy cows in the quarter of the reporting year;

      – the average milk yield per cow in the corresponding quarter 
                              of the previous year.

 

The total forecasted gross milk yield of cow’s milk is defined as the sum of the forecast of gross milk yield of cow milk from cows of beef and dairy herds.

The resulting overall forecast volume is distributed by month of the reporting quarter, in line with seasonality of production, that is, the specific weight of each month in the quarterly volume last year. It should be borne in mind that during the average milk production per cow varies within wide ranges. Most lowest milk yield observed in January. Then, the average yield significantly increases and reaches the greatest number in June – July. In subsequent months, there is a gradual decrease in milk production.

If there is additional information in the administrative sources of changes in the seasonality of production in the current year due to climatic conditions, food availability and other factors in the calculation, you can make the appropriate adjustments.

In March, after receiving new data sample survey for the first quarter of the current year, calculated adjusted volume of cow’s milk in the first quarter of this year, with updated data by the average milk yield and the share of dairy cows. The difference between the forecasts and clarify the scope of adjusted March.

Similarly, the calculation is made on the remaining quarters of the year. The difference between the forecasts and clarify the scope of the second quarter adjusted June, the third – September, the fourth – December.

Example of a calculation of the monthly amounts of cow’s milk production in households is given in Appendix 2.

20. The index of commodity production of raw cow’s milk is formed on a monthly basis as the difference between the amount of the gross milk yield of cow’s milk and cow’s milk volume consumed for feeding calves and piglets. The calculation is performed by the formula:

Where

goods supposedly  – the volume of marketable production of raw cow’s milk in the reporting month;

Shaft saying     – gross milk yield of cow’s milk in the reporting month;

vypoy         – the amount of cow’s milk consumed for feeding calves and piglets.

 

The amount of cow’s milk consumed for feeding calves and piglets, determined by multiplying the livestock offspring calves and pigs for the settlement period to the relevant provision of the drinking water. When calculating the amount of cow’s milk consumed for feeding calves, it should be noted that the period of watering one calf dairy herd is 4 months, the first month of the rate of the drinking water is 180 kg, the second – 140, in the third – 90 in the fourth – 40 kg. In beef herds feeding calves consumed 100% of the milk from cows nadoennogo beef herd. Example of a calculation of the volume of cow’s milk consumed for feeding calves of dairy herds in households are listed in Appendix 3.

When calculating the amount of cow’s milk consumed for feeding pigs, the rate of the drinking water is assumed to be 5 kg per pig for two months. Example of a calculation of the volume of cow’s milk consumed for feeding pigs in households are listed in Appendix 4.

21. The annual gross production of all types of raw milk in the small peasant farms and households and for the year is defined as the sum of gross monthly milking cow’s milk, calculated in accordance with the recommendations set forth above as well as in gross annual milk yield of other kinds of milk: sheep and goat, mare, camel.

For the calculation of the annual gross nadoennogo sheep, goat, mare’s and camel’s milk used data on average population doivshihsya ewes, kozomatok, mares and verblyudomatok average nadoe and milk to these species.

Average livestock doivshihsya ewes, kozomatok, mares and verblyudomatok determined by their relative weight in the average population according to the sample survey. The resulting specific gravity applies to the average of each type of breeding stock of cattle or separately for peasant farms and households, defined according to administrative sources – households recording and record keeping, or peasant farmers.

The calculation for each type of milk alone or in peasant farms and households is carried out according to the formula:
